I don’t know about you, but when I see information about someone who claims they can change my life, double my sales or help me or my team to achieve anything out of the ordinary, I get a little concerned they may be a ‘superhuman’ person who lives alone in an ivory tower and who focuses only on their business and their goals and has no life whatsoever outside of this. Hard to emulate! So I thought it might be helpful to you to know a little about me because I do have a life other than my goal to help everyone else achieve anything they want in life.
In the first place, in spite of over twenty-five years experience in doing what I do, I’m still learning – something new, every single day. And yes, I have my own coach too. Several in fact!
I do live my dream, and I have a great family life too. As at 2007, I've been married for 32 years to my lovely wife Stephanie and we have two great daughters, Natasha and Gemma. I don’t coach any of them, but I know that just being around me and hearing what I say and write has inspired them to some degree.
Stephanie enjoys her own little business selling scarves and shawls at Charity Fairs throughout the UK. It's a three month season, so she works very hard indeed for 3 months and lunches, does yoga, goes to the gym and plays Bridge with the ladies for the remaining nine.
Gemma is married to Ari, an American, and lives in New York. Ari has his own catering business. Gemma is a speech and language pathologist and has a fabulous career. We only discovered that Gemma had severe Dyslexia in her early teens and when she decided she wanted to go to university to study as a speech and language pathologist, all her tutors and the enrolment board told us that she had no chance. The precise words they used were – ‘it’s like a one legged person trying to become a professional football player’. Well she made it!
Gemma is 28 now and pregnant with her first child, so I’m going to be a Granddad. But as the kids have always called me 'Dadda Bear' I'm going to be known to the new arrival as ‘Grandpa Bear’.
Natasha is 25. She has her dream job - Stylist for Living etc, the UK's best selling interiors magazine. She also runs her own bespoke cupcake company in her spare time - it's called ‘A Two Storey Affair' - amazing designs for all sorts of occasions and so delicious. She is also working on a book on entertaining and has already been appointed an editor with a major publishing company to assist her and keep her on track. There’s even the possibility it could be turned into a TV series! I'm sure she'll end up really famous.
In my quiet times, I love gardening, cooking, writing and creating - just about anything. I also love playing Bridge - but sitting still for very long is hard indeed!
