  • Are your company’s profits suffering in this ever changing and uncertain economic climate?
  • Have you trimmed so much fat from your organisation that you are beginning to look anorexic?
  • Is it time to stop cutting costs and start dramatically increasing sales?
  • What would a 50% to 100% increase in sales do for your bottom line?

The two essential ingredients for being successful in sales (and life)

Some weeks I find it difficult to come up with an appropriate subject for this BLOG and this week I was struggling until the last minute. Then late Friday I received an unusual and exciting e-mail. This is what it said:

‘Dear Mr King

We utterly love what we do, are completely obsessed with it, and so selling is a pleasure. We are already number one in our market and want to be even better. Please call to discuss how you can help us to sell even more.

Yours sincerely’
(Name and company cannot be disclosed)

I just love people who love what they do and love what they sell and that e-mail reminded me of one my own several definitions of selling and my favourite which is: ‘transferring your passion and enthusiasm for your idea, product or service to someone else and getting them to buy.’ (Never forget those last four words!).

If you are not passionate and excited about your product or service, my advice is to either get passionate and excited about it or go and find something else to sell or do. Why? In the first place you will never be really successful and reach your greatest potential unless you are passionate and exited. Secondly, life is too short to be doing anything for a living that does not make you feel passionate and excited.

By the time I had received that e-mail and attempted to call, they had closed for the weekend. I feel passionate and excited about making that call first thing on Monday morning and passionate and excited about working with that sales team.

What are you going to be passionate and excited about on Monday morning when the working week starts again?
